Crew Chief Operations Summary

  • See slide. Mystery ground fault @ MI-60. MI-52 area vacuum leak. F2 manhole Grindex pump turned on with high water alarm.
Linac
  • Quiet. Good weekend.
Booster
  • Good weekend. Thanks to ops for tuning.
Booster Neutrino
  • Will need to change DI bottles tomorrow (5/2/17)
BNB Experiments
  • Running well.
Main Injector & Recycler
  • Hopefully a simple vacuum leak. MI-60 North ground fault concerns due to logistics of the penatration (45 degree angle). Guessing that heavy rain caused temporary fault then dried up. Two possible options: 1) push cover up from bottom to surround PVC sleeve. 2) figure out how to pull inclined pipe out. Need to work with MSD for a plan. Hipot data suggest that there is a soft fault there now. Will inspect location today during MI-52 vacuum repair.
NuMI
  • Quiet weekend. Issue with adsorber rad monitor.
NuMI Experiments
  • Experiments running well. MINOS magnet tripped twice over the weekend. Trips related to rainfall. Investigating options.
Muon Rings
  • Power supply testing. Will take beam when available.
SY120
  • Ops installed protable sump pump in F2 manhole. Thanks to ops under the adverse conditions. F4 pond pump only runs in the 'slow' mode. Investigating.
SY120 Experiments
  • ODH alarm---- fire dept. did not find anything. Cryo controls suggested not a real Argon release, only a controls problem. Investigation in progress. Two experiments to be installed on Wednesday, M03 & MC6 21b. Not loosing any experiments.
ES&H
  • Will provide support for MI-60 investigation.
EE Support
  • Nothing to add.
Mechanical
  • MI-52 vacuum investigation. Rain water in that area.
Fluids
  • Make up Tev LCW today.
RF
  • MI & Booster running well. Recycler switched from cavity #1 to #2. Running stations #2 & #3
MTA
  • Accessing enclosure today for inspection tomorrow.
Controls
  • Nothing to report.
Instrumentation
  • Nothing to report.
FESS
  • Alot of sitewide flooding. Nothing affecting operations. F2 manhole pumps running but way below amp rating. (no load, plugged line) This week CUB strainers cycle time has gotten worse. Working on backwash option. MI-40 kicker room HVAC.
Miscellaneous
  • Linac Laser Notcher --- Working on spare, being aligned today. Future access to install ~ 4 hrs opertunistic access.
