AD Weekly Friday - 2017 Scheduling Meeting/Weekly Summary (02 Jun 2017)

Operations Coordinator

  • We currently plan to have a 1.5 day maintenance period starting on Tuesday 6/6, primarily to do additional work on the MI52 vacuum issues.
Linac
  • Running OK.
  • KRF1 waveguide pressure trips over night were due to a bad regulator. This is being replaced this morning.
Booster
  • Booster ran well over the last week.
  • Matching to Linac has been improving.
  • Muon campus beam now appears on the weekly plot!
  • Tuning for efficiency.
  • Yard breaker tripped yesterday and caused about 45 min of downtime.
Main Injector & Recycler
  • MI52 vacuum has been somewhat stable but will need additional attention.
  • Running 700KW on target for NuMi.
  • Request a 4 hour study to shorten the injection timing to accommodate upcoming G-2 cycles.
  • Request 1.5 days to address MI52 vacuum issues, starting on Tuesday 6/6.
NuMI
  • Running well.
  • Having a few beam permit trips, likely due to noise on a cable. Controls personnel are investigating.
  • MINOS sump problems are a continuing concern but FESS is working on it.
NuMI Experiments
  • Running well.
Booster Neutrino
  • Running well.
  • Adam Watts is the on-call for the weekend.
BNB Experiments
  • Running well.
Muon Rings
  • G-2 commissioning has seen 3GeV secondaries delivered to the ring. The next step is to circulate beam and kick out the protons.
  • Target station dump installation is planned for Monday, after which the current tight restrictions on beam flux can be relaxed.
  • Devices have been chosen to represent Muon campus status on Channel 13.
Muon Experiments
  • Taking beam and tuning up.
SY120, Neutrino Muon, Meson Test, Meson Center
  • F4 pond pump tripped off earlier this week, taking down the LCW pump there. Turning on F2 as a replacement required doing a lot of flow balancing and ultimately the replacement of a diff pressure switch on HP3DS power supply. Running well since then.
  • F4 pond pump has been replaced and is now a ready spare.
SY120 Experiments
  • SeaQuest is running well.
  • LAriat is working on repairing some bad channels and should be ready to take beam late next week.
  • Mu2E cosmic veto system has been installed in Mcenter and will be testing for the next two weeks.
  • CMS detector components are also using test beam.
  • Next experiment swap is June 14th.
FAST
  • Be window spool for the high energy absorber was pumped down and tested. Beam line is now continuous from the RF gun to the high energy absorber.
  • IOTA proton source arc was achieved. Once the ion source and RFQ are commissioned they will be relocated to the NML cave.
PIP-II Injector Test
  • Shutdown is wrapping up.
Controls
  • Investigating permit trips at Minos.
  • MC1 HRM was rebooting itself multiple times and the remote reboot card was reseated.
Cryo
  • Meson system is a room temperature while the water piping is being modified.
  • MTA is at 4K and is running well.
  • Estimate NML/FAST vacuum skid will be ready next week.
  • CMTF is running well.
Mechanical & Fluids
  • F4 pond pump was replaced. F3 pump is in manual and they would like to try running without it. (THis will be tested this morning during the brief Linac DT.
  • A new company is being evaluated for doing heat exchanger cleaning.
  • Would like to stage piping downstairs for Booster 95 upgrade, during the upcoming 1.5 day shutdown.
RF
  • Booster stations are all up and running.
  • MIRF4 has a small cavity leak they would like to address next week.
FESS
  • Investigation of low flow in the MINOS sump pumps continues. There seems to be an obstruction on either suction or discharge. The pit was cleaned and treated with bleach but not much improvement was seen. Pump 1 is pumping 300 GPM but pump 2 is pumping ~30GPM. Pump 3 is available as emergency backup. There is a suspicion that the check valves have been compromised somehow and they are being changed out this morning. If this does not improve the flow then pump 2 will be pulled on Monday and inspected.
F4 pond pump motor was replaced.SLI project at Swan Lake continues.
