DOE topical collaboration meeting “Nuclear Theory for Double-Beta Decay and Fundamental Symmetries”

US/Eastern
Description
The inaugural meeting for the DOE topical collaboration “Nuclear Theory for Double-Beta Decay and Fundamental Symmetries” will be held on August 1st  and 2nd, 2016 at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) in East Lansing, Michigan.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss progress made in the first year of the collaboration, to plan for the first benchmark calculations of double-beta matrix elements, and to discuss a rubric for evaluating existing calculations of those matrix elements, as well as the ones important for dark matter and electric dipole moments.

The meeting will start at 9am on August 1st, and will end in the afternoon of August 2nd. All sessions will be held in the Theory Trailer located at the east end of the NSCL/FRIB facility.

It will comprise a small number of talks in the morning sessions and time in the afternoon to discuss, plan, and collaborate.

Organizers:
Scott Bogner (Michigan State University)
Heiko Hergert (Michigan State University)
Jon Engel (UNC Chapel Hill)

We acknowledge support from the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB).
