Ion-optics is essential for the understanding, operation, and design of electromagnetic systems like beam lines, spectrometers, and recoil separators.
JINA-CEE and NSCL are hosting an Ion Optics Summer School with special emphasis on separators. The aim is introducing participants to the basics of ion optical design, and use of the COSY software.
During this week-long summer school, lectures will provide an introduction to ion optics and cover the examples of the SECAR and St. George recoil separators. Depending on their chosen application project, students will learn about the details of the ion optics on an instrument of their choice, and the hands-on implementation and analysis in COSY.
Graduate students, postdocs, and senior scientists interested in research and development related to ion optical devices and their scientific exploitation are encouraged to attend.
Applications to the school are no longer being accepted.
