The main objective of the workshop is to define requirements for nuclear and particle theory to directly and positively impact accelerator neutrino experiments.
This workshop is supported by the Neutrino Theory Network and has the goal of strengthen, sustain and facilitate nuclear and particle theory collaborations relevant to the US neutrino experimental program, with emphasis on accelerator-based neutrino experiments.
Precise theoretical calculations of neutrino scattering cross sections on target nuclei are essential to the success of these experiments. Cross sections calculations require an accurate understanding of neutrino-nucleon and neutrino-nucleus dynamics in a broad energy range.
One of the major goals is to quantify the impact of nuclear/hadronic uncertainties on the extraction of neutrino oscillation parameters. To this end, a close and active collaboration between nuclear and particle theoretical physicists, along with neutrino generator developers and neutrino experimentalists is essential.
We will provide a brief report on the workshop activities and main outcomes.
