Minutes and Action Task List from Oct 2 2019 Electronics and Readout Integration Meeting

Attendees: Cindy, Anne, Linda, Ting, Steve, Dan and Francesco,

·  From last meeting's action list:

  • Linda posted the Minerva cable map to DUNE docDB 16085
  • We still want to hear the solution/walkaround of Linux update's impact on RS232 communication

·  Ting reported that the questionnaires on rack building were sent to subsystem experts.

  • So far there is no direct reply.
  • But there is very positive response from Bern group

·  Linda's presentation on ORC reviews is posted in DUNE docDB 16355

  • A three steps process SEDR->pORC->ORC was developed help subsystem passing Fermilab safety review
  • The SEDR is needed before per-production of your custom or modified electronics
  • Commercial equipment with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) dose not need ORC or SEDR
  • CE marked equipment is unfortunately not regarded as to meet OSHA standard thus need SEDR/ORC
  • SEDR requires simplified electrical diagram, line diagrams of custom manufactured circuity and sample of equipment
  • Linda will organized the review process

·  We have a brief discuss on ways to carry the low-noise AC power to racks

  • we decided to design new wire-way conduit on top west catwalk for the low-noise AC power Linda is to implement
    • Need to redo the wire-way especially the ground isolation from unistrut post and metal grid floor
    • We might also redesign the cable tray to make sure there is no floating grounding
  • For non-TPC readout electronics (Minerva, cryogenic,DCS, DAQ etc.) we will use existing experimental power or building power
    • We will keep the existing wire-way conduits under the west catwalk for this purpose
    • For this purpose, we are proposing to put the Minerva racks under the catwalk
    • couple of questions:
      • Are there building power panels on the west catwalk?
      • Do we need to separate the cryogenic equipment (pumps, cryo-coooler for example) from the Minerva electronics?

·  Ting mentioned a discussion last week about building up a teststand for DAQ work

  • A proposal is to use Minerva electronics as a starting test-stand for artDAQ development
  • Would like to move the Minvera racks to downstream end ASAP to get it working
  • Then adding XiLinX ArtyZ7 boards  for charge readout and control
  • The system will enable us to have a real piece of hardware for DAQ software development

·  Linda also suggests we consider to use ArgonCube2x2 to improve grounding monitoring design

·  Action task list:

  • Steve to collection MINOS electrical documentation
  • Ting to talk to Clarence and Howard about relocating Minerva racks
  • Linda to think engineer and technician need to implement the low-noise transformer and wire-way conduit
  • Ting to do doodle pool to find a meeting time slot in the morning

·  We will meet again on Oct 16. We want to hear from Francesco on feedthrough design and also from Steve on MINOS electrical documentation.
