The Integrable Optics Test Accelerator (IOTA) is a research electron and proton storage ring recently constructed at Fermilab Accelerator Science and Technology facility. Its mission is the study of novel beam manipulation techniques, key of which is integrable optics - a method to suppress collective instabilities and increase beam intensity. IOTA has completed commissioning and scientific run 1 in spring of 2019. In this talk I will present the results for the integrable optics experiment with a single invariant, implemented as a Henon-Heiles type system with octupole magnets. Improvements expected for run 2, which is ongoing, and related efforts in machine learning and lattice simulation and optimization will also be discussed.
