Description

Dear BARC/IJCLAB/FNAL colleagues,

You are invited to participate to the SSRs coordination meeting

When:

Wednesday February 25th, 2019 at 7.00am Central Standard Time (CST)

Agenda:

- FNAL status/updates on cavities, tuners, couplers, solenoids and cryomodules

- Six months lookahead: Schedule, Reviews and Partners Milestones [Cristian]
- Nb-Ti welding development [Mattia]
- Update on SSR solenoid design and upcoming FDR [Cristian/Stoyan]
- Update on SSR2 coupler design and upcoming FDR [Donato]

- BARC status/updates on SSRs activities (Srinivas/Vinay)

- IJCLAB status/updates on SSR2 activities (David)

- Any other business (All participants)

Join Zoom Meeting, please see email for connection details.

Tom has been introduced to all connected colleagues

No connections from BARC, no email were received prior to the meeting.

Cristian:

- COVID19 delays affect FDR for coupler, now scheduled back in May ( per Donato's email)

- Inida lockdown will affect the solenoid review, not sure when this review will happen

Stoyan:

- Design document is drafted, pretty advanced stage, still open questions especially on interfaces

- Delays to the FDR of solenoid wil directly affect the delivery of solenoids from BARC, documents are being signed to assure no further delays

- Preparation for the reviews is advanced and it seems in advanced status

- Solenoid FDR idico page https://indico.fnal.gov/event/23501/

- Solenoid will not be Delivered in April, probably will impact critical path, but we still have some buffer on RLS

Donato:

- Coupler FDR postponed by one month, procurement date not changed to avoid additional delays indico: https://indico.fnal.gov/event/23516/

- Coupler 3D model in TC very close to final, only coupling is being adjusted

- FDR coupler Partner contribution is welcome, David is proposing a Thermal analysis presentation at the review, lesson learned and procurement presentation as well.

- Nb procurement ongoing, monthly meetings with Ningxia, end of July Nb delivery date.

- Jacketed SSR2 final solicitation to be posted (approx. 1 month)

Mattia:

- presentation on Nb-Ti weld by e-beam qualification and studies, see attached presentation

- feasibility has been proven

- heat tretment does not affect mechanical properties

- no contamination of Ti on the RF side

- Conclusion: joint is acceptable.

Nicolas:

- presentation on the tuner cartridge life time test, in cryogenic environment (liquid N)

- the test proposed include an accelerated lifetime test, to simulate life time of a tuner cartridge: 1 month equal to approx 25 years operation

Sandry needs some input from Sergey on Coupler design prior to starting simulations, mostly on thermal straps/anchors.
