Minutes of All Conveners Meeting on 5/5/20

  • Suggestion to collect a list of expected topics to be covered by LOI and White Paper submissions on front web page. Might be better to add a link to a google doc or such. A large part will already be covered by what’s in the BRN. According to Ian the BRN report should become public some time in June. It was timed to be released at the HEPAP meeting that was scheduled at the end of May, but might be moved slightly later.
  • Discussion about involvement in R&D for the Electron Ion Collider (EIC). On one hand, it would be good to have endorsement from DOE-NP and HEP that HEP groups are welcome to contribute. On the other hand, this is a community exercise and we should just see what we want to do.
  • Loosely planned end-of-June workshop for Instrumentation Frontier might be too early? Probably not a lot of LOIs submitted by then. Could plan a workshop towards the end of the LOI submission period or just after? To be discussed. Topical group conveners should think how such a virtual workshop could be structured, how to attract topics, speaker, participants by our next meeting.
  • European Strategy meeting on 5/25. Expect the report released some time after that.

  • Roundtable:
    • IF1: did not meet yet
    • IF2: is missing a link to photo detector experts in the collider world, suggestions welcome
    • IF3: did not meet yet
    • IF4: discussed topics covered in BRN
    • IF5: asked for some clarification on LOI format to Young-Kee on Slack. No response yet. Gas detectors were not part of the BRN, so this area is especially crucial. Close links to EIC and NP.
    • IF6: see slides, topics of discussion clarified
    • IF7: will meet this week; conveners have experience from BRN
    • IF8: will meet soon
    • IF9: did not meet yet. Link to EIC and NP communities should be facilitated here. Lots of expertise from BRN
