Meetings with Eric Church (new DOE AI/ML Detailee) are starting - Cosmic, HVAI, ExaTrkX, Energy, Detector, Theory (?) — in anticipation of dedicated HEP AI/ML funding in FY21

 

Now on our radar (thanks JimK) — waiting for SciDAC institutes announcements and planning for anticipated SciDAC-5 partnership FOAs on the ~12 month timescale

 

At least 5/6 coordinated LDRD proposals from AI project across divisions

 

Interactions with DOE AITO

• Meeting to give input to National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (NSCAI) on AI&Ethics
• Responded to call  for AITO's RFI on AI Technologies that will Drive American AI Leadership, focused on Automated Experimental Loops to Accelerate Scientific Discovery - Approaches to Fundamental Physics
• Questionnaire for NIST on “technical standards and tools in support of reliable, robust and trustworthy  AI systems” (due Sept 14)

 

Planning for FY21 AI associate program

 

Brian has collected input for AI webpage, Marcia & Fang are working on content

 

Prepared materials for Annual Lab Plan presentation, dedicated session on “Data analytics and 5G for operations” — positive feedback on our presentation/approach
