Description

Abstract:

Despite the enormous success of the Standard Model, there are still open questions, including the particle nature of dark matter. In general, dark matter particles produced in LHC collisions are invisible to the ATLAS detector but can be reconstructed by quantifying the measured transverse momentum imbalance (MET). In the first portion of this talk, I will describe the evolution of the ATLAS MET trigger throughout Run 2 (2015-2018). In the second half the talk I will dive into the details of the search for the Higgs boson decaying to dark matter. I will focus on the vector boson fusion channel, describing a recent update that now analyses the full Run 2 proton-proton dataset with a center of mass energy of 13 TeV.
