Massimiliano Lattanzi - "Probing neutrino interactions with cosmological observations" - via BLUE JEANS

US/Central
Description

Cosmological observations are a powerful probe of neutrino physics. In addition to probing properties like neutrino masses and number of families, they can be used to investigate the possibility that active neutrinos have interactions beyond the standard model of particle physics. This might happen, for example, in dynamical realizations of the see-saw mechanism for neutrino mass generation. In my talk I will present constraints on the strength of neutrino interactions from cosmological data. I will also discuss the possibility that nonstandard interactions might reconcile cosmological observations with the sterile neutrino interpretation of the anomalies in short-baseline flavour oscillation experiments.
