Bi-weekly meeting of Snowmass energy frontier topical group EF03 (top and heavy flavor production). We will give a chance for everyone to prepare 5-minute presentations to show their plans. We will also have plenty of time for discussion.
The meeting will be on zoom at https://msu.zoom.us/j/99445309904 The meeting password on zoom is 202021.
Intro:
- October workshop was originally planned for November, now dates are fixed for week of October 5. Detailed agenda TBD
- LOI deadline has been extended
Emi Kou, EW corrections:
- what are the assumptions you make about top mass, b quark mass? here on-shell production of top quarks, narrow-width approximation
- EW corrections in top decay? Yes, have not looked at decay yet, but these are available for LHC ttbar production, for example. This is based on automatic tools. See https://arxiv.org/abs/1711.08910
- For GRACE, the limiting factor is mainly computing power.
- aMC@NLO in principle can do EW and QCD at NLO (Huasheng Shao commented that he and Marco Zaro have implemented this (for LHC, not for e+e- yet), the code can do this but never tried, and currently only 2-to-4. Code for NLO QCD (no polarized beam) for e+e- should be out soon.
- Maybe we consider having a dedicated meeting on the computing tools?
- what is AFB here? define z axis based on electron direction, then define hemispheres based on that, then look at top-quark direction relative to z axis.
- p18: is this specifically sensitive to new physics contributions? This would have to be coupling to e+e- as well as ttbar, so it would be a very specific model.
- Coupling to bbbar instead of ttbar? EW corrections in this case are not as large. However, also expect better experimental precision, so possible that EW NLO corrections for bbbar and ccbar production are also needed.
