MC/Simulation Framework Tutorial: CEPC

US/Eastern
Description

The goal of the tutorial is to prepare outside collaborators to conduct physics studies for the CEPC.

The minimal computing requirements to participate in the tutorial are access to a centOS7 or slc6 machine.  In addition, access to cvmfs is extremely useful.  For those without access to such resources, the OSG has kindly offered to provide support.  An account on “Snowmass-Connect” can be requested at [1].  Documentation for this service is available at [2].  Support related to this service is available through a dedicated slack channel [3].

The tutorial will make extensive use of the CEPC simulation framework.  Installation of this framework will not be covered in the tutorial.  Instead, we will use pre-compiled installations on the OSG or through cvmfs.  If you prefer to install the framework on your own local computing resources, you can find instructions at [4].  However, this takes a considerable amount of time and should be done well before the tutorial.  We will not be able to debug installation issues during the tutorial itself, so if you plan to go this route you should do so ASAP and contact us (preferably though slack) if you encounter issues.    A virtual image of the framework is also being prepared, which you may choose to use (directions forthcoming).

To help anticipate the number of attendees, please register if you plan to participate.  The tutorial will be recorded and posted to indico ASAP for those who are unable to attend in real time.
