Zoom

Description

The next session of the Programming Video Journal Club will be the first of the new year, on Wednesday January 13, 2021, from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. It will also be the first talk on Python.

In this session, our talk is from Brandon Rhodes. Presented at code::dive 2019, the title is "When Python Practices Go Wrong". In this talk, Brandon discusses a variety of "common practices" in the Python community, and looks at cases in which he argues the convential wisdom is wrong. He presents alternatives that are more readable and expressive, thus yielding code that is more likely to be correct and to remain correct upon maintenance

Please try to watch the talk before the session. We'll start the session with a
summary of the talk. We'll then follow with free-ranging discussion on the
topic. Please come prepared with your comments or your questions! The real
value of the session come more from animated discussion than from my re-cap.

Please refer to the email announcing the session for the Zoom meeting
information. Feel free to be eating lunch while we meet!
