Meeting Notes: (Nov 30, 2011 by Dean Still)

Attending: Still, Annala,Convery,Morgan,Drendel,Sondgeroth,Mokhov,Tariq,Leveling,Popovic.

Agenda:

1) Presentation:   Suumary of Present g-2 target Design and Issues    Dean Still

Dean reported a summary of the 5 current g-2 target presentations from Mokhov, Yoshikawa, Leveling and Popovic on g-2 target topics as well as two topics of replacement of pgma with a cmag and the issue of the current dump has a water leak.  Reported there are 2 options for target design. Option 1 invovles using the current antiproton setup "as is" with the modifications coming to optimize target lens focal length, lens design with a possible upgrade to miniboone horn suggested by Mokhov, replacement of the pmag to a cmag and the issue of how to address the water leak on the dump.  There is concern about the g-2 rep rate on the pulsed devices and testing and analysis is needed.  Option 2 which was the focus of Popovics presentation is to replace the pulsed devices with DC quads that are rad hard and that employ quad steering to provide the 3 degree of bend to the AP2 line.  This a simpiler design similar to BNL E-821.

Dean discussed the g-2 booster to recycler pulse scenario and inital POT for different modes and what is meant by reasonable production of pi + from the target.
A layout of work to be done for topics of simulation, lens testing, cmag specification, dump specification and more definition work for option 2 was presented with waring that time for CD-0 is approaching in March 2012.

Discussion are presentation included topics of complexity in designing and building a larger diameter lens.  Mohkov reminded all that one good option for a lens replacement is the horn used for miniboone.  This will be looked at further.
