Switchyard/Meson/NM meeting

US/Central

SY

  • Timing cable replacement

    • Advertising as October 4 for beam to Meson

    • Excavation on-hold due to “contract issues”

  • VH94 SMPS upgrade

    • Electricians haven’t started on 480V connection to the new supply. Old supply was prematurely scrapped, so no backup. Engineer suggested fallback plan of “kludging” that may “raise eyebrows with safety”. I prefer to delay beam turn-on if necessary to get electricians to do this correctly. Adam

  • Startup checklist Adam

Meson

  • MS2LCW pumps

    • Two pumps down, only one available Paul

  • M02 header leak repair

    • MSD to size pump and procure hose

    • Alarmable (ACNET) high-level float. Solution designed, parts ordered. Adam

    • Upstream M02 leak not repairable without draining system. MSD to tighten valve stem to see if it helps. May be very small, may need plan B catch basin as well (low to the ground though).

  • MS3 vacuum PLC progress: Mike

    • Paul waiting on minor parts

    • May have MT4 roughing valve status cabling issue, following up, may be confused w/ beam valve Mike Looking good, few more valves to double-check

  • MC6TGT as-found schedule. Gordon

    • Starting up with target in place.

    • Gordon: Alignment doesn’t need to move ion chamber or PWC to as-found the target. Alignment finished shooting target. Data received yet? Gordon to get results tomorrow.

    • Once alignment data received, need to re-install grate, target box, back-scatter scintillator. Gordon

  • MC6D-2 work wrapping up, manifold repaired, verifying flag connections, then tape/epoxy, then lifting onto stand, then alignment

    • Coordinating between Alignment and TD Gordon

    • Temporary heater installed to dry out magnet. Passed hi-pot this morning.

    • Should be able to get magnet back up in place by next week

    • Gordon to remove 480V extension cord so Jim Ranson can pick it up.

  • MC6D-4

    • Will operate with minor leak, can be contained. Check leak once MS2LCW system is back on.

  • F1 single-point LOTO: work finished. Verification and testing (Jensen) pending. Paul

  • Need to remove dehumidifiers (F2 and F3) once MS2LCW up and running. Paul

  • How many interaction lengths from vacuum in Meson? Mike

  • M01 rad fence needs straightened out, solution with FESS confirmed to not count as excavation (concrete supports) Tom

  • Startup checklist Mike

  • SWIC cable ringer to verify, in particular, MC6WC at low intensity (1E6), check cables Mike

  • Can SWICs run in Proportional mode (higher voltage, PWCs?), does polarity matter? Adam

  • Double-check Tom’s optics for MCenter 120 GeV mode Adam

NM

  • Vacuum

    • All pumps hooked up, downstream pump needs turned on

  • NS2LCW, backup pump (pump #2) pending

  • NS1LCW system status? Adam

  • Magnet labels/signs; Enclosure C finished, taking longer than anticipated. Adam and Mike

  • Some rack labels needed Adam

  • G2 single-point LOTO needs finished before beam Paul

    • Ranson expects to finish by 9/9

  • How many interaction lengths at this vacuum level in NM beamline? Carol

  • Latest time for safety system tests to be complete to start power supply tests? February 2022 is SpinQuest estimate for beam. Adam, waiting to hear back from Jensen about PS commissioning time needed.

  • NS2LCW sprayers developed a leak, Rick to get back to Adam and Kevin about timeline for colder water, help MSD manage manpower
