Switchyard/Meson/NM meeting

US/Central

SY

  • Timing cable replacement: Installation of replacement cables and conduit underway. Construction to be complete by Sept. 15 17. Adam

  • Rad fencing in F-sector due to construction Adam

  • VH94 SMPS upgrade: Electricians finished 480V disconnect. Adam

  • Possible leaks on Remnant LCW system (F-sector most likely). LCW system to be turned on early next week, then we’ll see. Adam

  • Asked MSD to turn on ArCO2 gas systems (TG-8, MS3, and G2) Adam

  • Startup checklist Adam

Meson

  • MS2LCW pumps

    • Two pumps down, only one available Paul

    • Pump #3 has bad motor, waiting on parts

    • Pump #2 has bad starter, waiting on parts. Worst-case, can use starter from pump #3 if necessary.

    • Given FESS until Sept. 20 for acquiring parts, then backup plan for starter

  • M02 header leak repair

    • MSD to size pump and procure hose. Meeting tomorrow afternoon with MSD to discuss plan.

    • Alarmable (ACNET) high-level float: Circuit box complete and tested. This week, running cable, testing M02 patch panel. Adam

    • Upstream M02 leak not repairable without draining system. MSD to tighten valve stem to see if it helps.

  • MS2LCW head pressure, tank levels. Appears that gas bottle for head pressure is empty, could be cause of level rise. Gordon

  • MS3 vacuum PLC progress: Mike

    • Paul A. and Mike to look into installing CT clamps on vacuum pump cables.

  • MC6TGT as-found schedule. Gordon

    • Starting up with target in place.

    • Asked ES&H to re-install grate, target box. Then replacing back-scatter scintillator. Gordon

  • MC6D-2

    • Magnet in place

    • Power cables and klixons connected

    • Remaining: MSD working on turning on vacuum pumps, connecting LCW

  • MC6D-4

    • Check leak once MS2LCW system is back on.

  • F1 single-point LOTO: work finished. Ops working on config control paperwork. Paul

  • Need to remove dehumidifiers (F2 and F3) once MS2LCW up and running. Paul

  • M01 rad fence needs straightened out, solution with FESS confirmed to not count as excavation (concrete supports) Tom

  • Startup checklist Mike

  • SWIC cable ringer to verify, in particular, MC6WC at low intensity (1E6), check cables. Specs from McArthur, gathering resistor. Mike

  • Can SWICs run in Proportional mode (higher voltage, PWCs?), does polarity matter? From Dan: can go as high as 2200V, no change to polarity. Adam check MCenter Droeges can go this high.

  • Double-check Tom’s optics for MCenter 120 GeV mode Adam and Mike

NM

  • Vacuum

    • All pumps hooked up, downstream pump needs turned on.

    • NM2 multiwire leaking, Carol following up w/ MSD.

  • How many interaction lengths at this vacuum level in NM beamline? Carol

  • NS2LCW, backup pump (pump #2) pending

    • Carol The pump seal is the issue

    • How does the NS2LCW piping run? Is it buried? Making progress. Carol

      • Tom concerned about whether NS2-NS7 piping is exposed. May not need glycol? Carol following up to look in the field.

  • NS1LCW system status? Des agrees to have Dan jog the system. Adam

  • Magnet labels/signs; Enclosure C finished, taking longer than anticipated. Adam and Mike

  • Some rack labels needed Adam

  • G2 single-point LOTO electrical work finished. Working with Ops on config control paperwork. Cleaned up old disconnected. Paul

  • Latest time for safety system tests to be complete to start power supply tests? February 2022 is SpinQuest estimate for beam. Adam, waiting to hear back from Jensen about PS commissioning time needed.

  • NS2LCW sprayers developed a leak, Rick to get back to Adam and Kevin about timeline for colder water, help MSD manage manpower.
