Upstream DAQ Meeting

Europe/Zurich
Jim Brooke (University of Bristol), Roland Sipos (CERN)

1. TP output format (Ivana)

  • Optimal format in software has fixed header, followed by variable payload
  • Current/old FW format has variable sized part in between fixed size parts. New FW format has fixed part at the beginning, to match software.
  • Preliminary results presented of time spent in different parts of TP post-processing, with old/new format

Comments

  • RawWIBTp is to distinguish TPs from TPC vs PDS etc.  Perhaps RawTPCTp is better.
  • FW output header (from CRIF) should include a version number (AT)
  • Would be good to get a more detailed breakdown of where the time is spent (RS)
  • Don't think we learn much from slowdowns, esp at MHz rates (RS)
  • Want to repeat with more realistic data (presumably radiologicals) (IH)
  • Should move to a realistic configuration (10 links etc)
