Abstract:

The inner structure of jets is sensitive to QCD across a wide range of scales, from the perturbative parton shower to non-perturbative hadronization effects. This information has been used in many searches to distinguish between different types of jets, and recent advances in jet grooming algorithms have also made it possible to produce calculations of these observables beyond leading logarithmic accuracy for the first time at a hadron collider. I will discuss recent measurements of jet substructure observables with the ATLAS detector, the implications for future measurements of QCD, and the applications to areas of research at the LHC.
