Timing system commissioning plans
1. uTCA commissioning
- initial tests in VST
- presumably repeat tests already done in Bristol with fake endpoints
- beyond that, what functionality do we need to test in earnest ?
- need to write down a list
- beyond VST
- ultimately we can serve the full neutrino platform
- do we have enough partitions? probably not until we update protocol
- after VST, probably switch other systems to uTCA one by one
2. Protocol change
- will be coupled to a dunedaq release
- do we need to maintain backwards compatibility in software ?
- legacy systems, debugging, etc.
- how difficult would it be ?
- endpoint firmware change should be straightforward
- clarity about what is required from endpoints
- need to give endpoint teams the heads up that this is coming
- should include the interface definition, and the timeline
- do we have a full list of who we need to contact ?
- should start preparing the documentation for endpoints
