Tianlai Analysis Teleconference

US/Central
Peter Timbie (UW-Madison), Peter Timbie

AGENDA

  • WIYN observing planning March 7, 8, 9   - Greg, Peter
    • contact Heidi Schweiker:   heidi.schweiker@noirlab.edu
    • see if we can have Tim become an 'observer' by training on Monday with Albert
    • Jocelyn - working on target list assembly
  • TLpipe -
  • plan next steps in analysis of Tianlai Dish Array NCP data -
    • Reza and Olivier have the Jan '18 dish array data used in the paper
      • they plan to work on checking the phase and gain calibration
      • also will make maps by adapting the code used for midlatitude mapmaking to the NCP
        • calibrate on known 5, 8 Jy sources near NCP
        • check Cas A contribution
        • hi-k analysis
    • we need to prepare more data for analysis
      • can we automate this process?
      • Albert also has a pipeline
      • data access
        • disks attached to Tianlai01 are slow.  Also running out of space.
        • use iRODS at IN2P3?   can handle ~ 10 TB
          • Albert will try a  test transfer from Fermilab
  • Lo-z paper section 5 (NCP analysis) is nearly complete  - Olivier
    • see attached version below
    • note that NCP region has low mode-mixing compared to mid-latitude
  • SAZERAC conference abstracts:  (online March 14 - 17)
    • Fengquan Wu: Global spectrum experiment
    • Yidong Xu: Small scale absorption effects on neutral islands
    • Xuelei Chen: DSL: the lunar orbit array
    • Yuan Shi: Global spectrum measurement from lunar orbit
    • Shijie Sun: EM Simulation for the Tianlai cylinder
    • Wenkai Hu: HI absorbers in the FAST drift scan survey
    • Peter Timbie:  Overview of Tianlai Dish Array
  • European Astronomical Society Meeting coming up June 27 - July 1
  • Ground pickup and x-correlation - Albert
    • predicted signal appears to be too high!  Perhaps that's a good thing - can always make smaller
    • model for ground - reflective?
    • use to calibrate phase errors?
    • Albert will say more next week
