Description

This is the first in a series of 1 day workshops to develop a common understanding of how university-based physicists will obtain and use LHC data. This workshop will bring together the university-based physicists and the Campus/Regional/Connector/National network providers to develop a common understanding of what is required to meet the science needs. This instance of the workshop is co-sponsored by the Texas High Energy Grid, Texas Internet Grid for Research and Education, Lone Star Education and Research Network, and Internet2. All LHC-related scientists and support staff for whom this conference is convenient in the surrounding area are invited.

The focus of the meeting series is on determining the networking and data transfer requirements for Tier-3 university-based science analysis for LHC data. It is crucial to obtain sufficient input from science groups at individual institutions in order to plan properly for the orderly deployment of LHC data. If your group plans to analyze, handle, transfer or consume LHC data, you need to attend or have representation at this workshop!

In-person attendance is strongly encouraged. Limited videoconferencing will be available through the ESNet Collaboration Service H.323 video+phone system, bridged to VRVS in meeting room Saturn.

A campus map may be found at http://campusmaps.tamu.edu/. The Moore Communications Center [map] at which the meeting will be held is located near the Koldus Student Center, which is part office complex and part parking garage. Visitor parking for the day is $15.00.
