Switchyard/Meson/NM meeting

US/Central

SY

  • F3 fencing
    • JULIE entered for July 11, FESS in the loop. Sue
  • Instrumentation
    • Box SWIC adapter: MSD to take delivery of prototype this week, MSD/Instrumentation will prototype to make sure it works and holds vacuum. Still on-schedule for having box SWICs available by August. Adam
    • Sue leading discussion with Niral and Adam to identify which BPMs are malfunctioning and how.
  • Cathodic protection cable break @ SSB. FESS put together PO for contractor to take a look during the summer, waiting on procurement now.
    • Paul Allcorn will be taking this over from me, ask Kerry to send to Paul A. as well.
  • HP3US/HP3DS graceful turn-off mechanism on-hold pending EE support. Sue following up with Eric Barbere. Tom will keep in touch with Chris Jensen on this as well.
  • Working to get C204 input for SY permit for VH94
  • Six-batch study pending
    • Adam shooting for June based on personnel availability.
  • Adam zeroed out trim time tables, will unmask tracking error alarms tomorrow
  • Mike to follow up about F17B3 and V703 beam roll
    • Mike created VTF17 compensation ramp and tested it. No negative effect on losses.
    • V703 cannot be so easily compensated for with trims. Could reduce spill time by 0.1 seconds, need to clear that w/ MI folks. Adam and Denton looking into it; may be able to modify R:V703 ramp.
  • P2 vacuum meetings ongoing, Sue leading
    • Looks promising to put all power supplies and controls at F0
    • Making progress. Matt Davidson to make test stand to verify CIA control of new Gamma ion pump supplies
    • Adam to handle beam permit input in cooperation with Vogel
    • Sue following up with Budlong and Neville on electrician needs
  • Adam to talk to Wanda about progress on new wire planes

Meson

  • Instrumentation
    • SWIC cable ringer to verify, in particular, MC6WC at low intensity (1E6): build, ready to test in the field. Mike
    • MT4PWC and MC6WC1 need new wires, Mike to follow up with Rich to see if he's getting those wire planes built. Adam confirmed MT4WC plane available, Rich/Wanda working to make more.
    • S230 suspected failing
  • Split optics improvement
    • Study to determine polarity and location ordering of Q210 and Q211
    • Re-tune model to move vertical waist for better split. Study to try new tune.
    • On-hold pending vacuum improvements
  • Fseps get vacuum bursts with large (200 mil) movements.
    • Moving above 150 mils creates bursts, IP trips more frequently
    • Tuned beam lower to keep Fseps below 150 mils
    • Shutdown plan to look at Fsep tank seals
  • Studies Needed
    • Mcenter pinhole study for Emphatic 4
    • Mike completed yesterday. Discovered MC5WC response is weak, shows persistent current draw at high bias voltage, same as MC6WC1. Both chambers may be old and need to be replaced.
  • Leaking magnets
    • MT4Q2, making it ramp seems to have helped the leak rate.
      • Viable spare found for MT4Q6. QQP002, being referenced, already been tested successfully. Moving to storage.
    • MT4Q6 has a known leak, but ramping it seems to have helped the leak rate.
    • MT5HT2 and MT5VT2 valved out due to leak (common valve between both). Breakering off for now. Des wants water lines blown out before magnet is run (ramped) without water flow.
  • Form Meson Vacuum working group. Mike to lead.
    • 120V pump oil changes are less frequent now, seems to be improving vacuum overall.
      • Moving to reduced oil change schedule. Next week, extending run period to every 3-4 days.
    • 208V outlet complete, new pump staged, waiting on MSD availability to switch
  • M05 ODH fan needs new electrical run. APS-TD cryo says ODH classification doesn't change with broken fan, AD DSO is happy with this.
  • MT3V 1151 card changed due to wandering setting. Now digital status (on/off) is incorrect, but magnet current is now correct.

NM

  • Final shielding still not in place, which is holding off ESS/Interlocks testing, search/securing
  • G2 supplies tested.
    • V420 power supply having apparent controls issue
  • NS1 power supplies are good, Sue documenting
  • NM2 SWIC replaced w/ a spool piece, leak checked successfully. To be installed, no ETA yet.
  • Target SWIC borrowed for MTA.
  • How many interaction lengths at this vacuum level in NM beamline? Carol
  • LCW
    • NS1 running, resistivity good now
    • NS2 cooling tower air issue
      • Apparent leak again, MSD investigating
      • Formal request in to get sprayers installed next week.
      • NS7 pressure/flow impacted too, improved but they need better gauges
    • NM3RAW up and running
      • Experiment will keep track of RAW resistivity
      • Upstairs meeting doesn't work, Sue to verify power supply is interlocked to NS2LCW resistivity and talk to Rick about meter upstairs not working.
      • Carol to follow up on getting NS2LCW sprayers installed.
      • Carol to follow up on status, may be some remaining work
  • NS7
    • Building management to improve roof
    • Building management to address 480V conduit water issue, has estimate from Neville (~$12k). May be able to take care with T&M before shutdown; Paul has about 3 weeks until he could feasibly start this, Sue following up.
  • ArCO2 gas system, MSD waiting on parts to hook up G2 gas sensor.
  • Carol trying to find out scope of ARR, no word from ES&H yet
    • Working with other departments to learn what they've done for ARRs to drive the process in lieu of ES&H guidance
  • NM2 supplies ready to be energized/tested, pending signatures
    • Waiting on NS2LCW acceptable flow/pressure
    • First verify water valved-in
    • ESS pull-keys test with Paul
    • Gather signatures for ramp test
