MSD Machine Operations Report Summary Monday, February 6, 2023 Proton Source 1. Mechanical/Vacuum a. Saturday morning the 400 mev line vacuum started to degrade faster i. More ion pumps have been tripping more frequently ii. Ion pumps IP11,IP12,IP21,IP22,IPQ16,IPINJ1,IPINJ all have higher pressure than normal 2. Fluids a. Sunday evening the power panel on Linac water skid 1 burned up i. The pumps on the water skid don’t look to be burned up but will not know until there is power to run the pumps ii. There are spares on hand if either pumps motors are bad Main Injector/Recycler 1. Mechanical/Vacuum a. I:IP5321 faulted and reset without issue on 2/4 (around 10:10am) b. I:IP839 faulted and reset without issue (3x) - 2/3 (around 18:35 & 18:55) and 2/4 (around 00:15) i. There seems to be a correlation with this pump faulting and very cold weather, as it faulted several times right before Christmas as well ii. Will continue to monitor 2. Fluids a. Nothing to report External Beamlines 1. Mechanical/Vacuum a. F1 manhole is still rising and is up to 84 mTorr b. Muon IP510 is showing fault 2. Fluids a. Working on connecting the compressor to the MS2 LCW expansion tank b. Making up the NS2 LCW system Fluids – General 1. CUB- Column 1 needs regeneration and waiting on FESS to obtain results of the column 3 regeneration effluent tank sample
