      Tips and Tricks for LDRDs and Research Proposals 1h

      During this session, Kavin Ammigan will speak about his DOE Early Career Research Program (ECRP) application experience and provide some tips/advice, from his perspective, for writing such proposals.

      In addition, Bob Tschirhart will cover the LDRD program. The Fermilab Lab Directed Research and Development (LDRD) program will be described in the context of the DOE LDRD program and the goals of the program implemented at Fermilab. Particular current and past LDRD projects will be discussed as examples for future proposals.

      ACORN Controls Upgrade Presentation 1h

      In this session, you’ll learn about the ACORN control system upgrade project. The presentation will cover the progress over the past year, updates to personnel on the project, and achievements in Research and Development building toward a conceptual design. The high-level aspirations and motivations of the project will also be presented, focusing on the context of the project within the Accelerator Directorate and the Critical Decision milestones with the DOE.       Engineering Challenges of MAGIS-100 1h

      In this All Engineers Retreat session, learn about the Matter-wave Atomic Gradiometer Interferometric Sensor (MAGIS-100). MAGIS-100 is a quantum sensor which will be installed in the existing 100-meter-deep shaft at the MINOS building. An overview of the engineering challenges associated with building a next-generation atom interferometer in a vertical space will be presented. Presenter: Linda Valerio (MAGIS-100 Project Engineer).
