Minutes

  1. WIYN/Hydra observing plans - Albert, Greg, John.   Albert has prioritized objects that have not been observed at all and then objects with magnitude < 17.0 for which we have "spectra but no redshift" . Targets are scattered across many tiles but several tiles have quite a few.  These will take priority.  Albert has .AST files.  Will send to Greg to turn into .hydra files for observing.  Guide stars are 'FOPS'.   Travel plans are in place.   Best of luck observing!
  2. Collaboration/ 21 cm Cosmology Workshop planning - Yichao.  Has created a web page and will send around a link for people to suggest edits.  There will be a registration fee (~ 2000 Yuan), which will change depending on the # of attendees.  Expecting 60 people.
  3. Reviews of TDA cross-coupling paper - Peter.  See attached comments from editor.   Fengquan will address bullet points about the measurements.   David will work on the questions about simulations.  The latter could take considerable computing time.   Deadline for response by May 31 seems much too short.   David will ask for additional time.  Peter will as David to set up new files on Overleaf: one to include changes to the manuscript and one to include the response letter to the editor.  Put in the same project as the original submission.
  4. Reviews of NSF proposal - Peter.   See reviews below.  This is the 5th proposal to NSF that's been rejected but has the most positive reviews so far.    Four, including this one, have been to the extragalactic astronomy program and one has been to advanced technology/instrumentation program.   Basic thrust has been the same, but few comments seem to be similar to previous years'.  Need to talk with the program manager(s) again and/or find a different agency.
  5. Other topics - PT will be on vacation on May 23 and May 30 and Albert will be at a conference on May 23.  Reza has graciously agreed to organize the calls.
