New results from the Muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab

The Muon g-2 experiment searches for telltale signs of new particles and forces by examining the muon’s interaction with a surrounding magnetic field. By precisely determining the magnetic moment of the muon and comparing with similarly exact theoretical predictions, the experiment is sensitive to new physics lurking in the subatomic quantum fluctuations surrounding the muon. In 2021, the Muon g-2 collaboration at Fermilab presented their first results based on one year of data taking. This new result from the Muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab is based on the analysis of year 2 and 3 of data taking. The experimental result will be presented by James Mott, Fermilab experimental physicist and member of the Muon g-2 scientific collaboration.
