PSE Open Mic

As ALD, I believe that our large and complex directorate will be more effective if we can learn from each other about the great science and mission support work that happens every day here in PSE.

As part of my plan to encourage more collaboration and information-sharing, I am pleased to announce the new monthly PSE Open Mic Seminars. It is my hope that the PSE Open Mic will have a different structure and feel from the traditional seminars and colloquia that are frequently held in the scientific divisions. Unlike those, which are often held by invited speakers from outside Argonne, the PSE Open Mic will be Argonne-centric to foster more interaction and engagement within the laboratory. Therefore, I encourage all of you to come out and learn more about our innovative science and our essential mission support activities.

For scientific topics, I would like to encourage those of you who have already given talks at other venues to reprise these talks for the Open Mic. I would especially like to solicit talks from our early-career researchers and our postdocs. Just to be clear, however: I do not want to create additional work for you to have to build a new talk just for this purpose. For those who are interested in presenting, please send your topic and slides to pse-ald@anl.gov and we will provide you with a seminar date.

The PSE Open Mic will happen at 3:30pm on the first Thursday of every month.
