Accelerator Scheduling Meeting

9 AM Meeting (26 Mar 2018)

Crew Chief Operations Summary
Good weekend. A few Muon accesses. Beam to Users, BNB off for berm work this morning.

Linac
Good weekend. Source PID loop turned back on, will see how regulation goes.

Booster
Good weekend. 93-94% eff. Some RF trips. Ops did a great job with rep rate & timelines.

Booster Neutrino
Autotune changes made, better, good catch by ops. (Sample time was too early, always one supercycle behind.)

BNB Experiments
Running well.

Main Injector & Recycler
Running well, a few nodes needed rebooting, TClK cable change necessary for one; Studies request: wOne hour of dedicated time, but need BNB beam during that time, will inhibit beam to NuMI, but maybe not Muon and FT; Plan for Tuesday is BNB construction delayed by rain, otherwise Wednesday. Also want to do some 1.4 s ramp studies but need to have proper timeline/events.

NuMI
Running OK, looks like a new RAW leak in Horn. During dedicated study they want to access the RAW room, Phil is convinced there is a leak though. Also take out Rad badges, should be an hour.

NuMI Experiments
MINOS power supply replaced Friday,

Muon Rings
11.4 Hz all weekend except for when SY is running (9.5 hz), ran well, had a few BVs close, think it’s a noisy IP, may just take the time to go in and fix it. Problem when they take the events out and put them back in the lens and PMAG trip, known issue, more of an annoyance lately and Dean’s going to talk to Ken & Howie for a fix. TOR107 only gets 5/8 points on data collection; controls/FE issue, work in progress. Abort line quad issue looking at later today.

Muon Experiments
“also did not catch fire,” ran moderately well, ran well on Friday, “tough day” on Saturday with quad spark, want to check out an “alternative run point” (lower quad voltage) . Sat ran rest of weekend with only a few sparks, ran a trolley run Sat (best yet, only 4 hrs 6 mins) (flat spot on plot); have run these 7 pumps for 4-18 months and had some failures recently, had a few one-offs but 16 pulse running went really well, ready for full time for this mode of operation.

SY120
LCW usage holding steady, patches holding. Would like study - beam to dump when no users.

SY120 Experiments
Ran well over weekend, current group maybe could finish tomorrow morning, new groups coming in for ORCs on Wednesday, might call for open access (tomorrow) and be off for 1.5 days but won’t know until overnight, next group will be same equip, diff people until June.

ES&H
Chipmunk replacement is up-to-date.

EE Support
MI60U tripped a few times on choke OC, will check diagnostics that were put in place previously.

Mechanical
Pretty quiet, MI20 LCW temp did alarm on high, Ops cycling pond pumps seemed to take care of it.

Fluids
See Mechanical.

RF
Running well. Email of report offered to Opsco but refused.

Controls
Found correlation with certain parameters causing MSEPTA FE to crash.

Instrumentation
No report.

FESS
1500 KVA transformer being brought online. Will bring Andy’s/Casey’s into grid, new electrical room SLI work. Recent flooding at NTSB and contractor is helping, will need access behind rad fence eventually, will clean stormwater drains between NTSB and lift station.

Miscellaneous
BNB construction work may be dynamic, weather dependent. If BNB construction is halted, we can run BNB beam, which means we can do MI studies and NuMI beam will be off. We will have access to NuMI RAW room to check for leaks and remove RAD badges.

There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
