Beatriz Tapia Oregui (UT Austin) - Statement

Hi!

My name is Bea and I am a third year graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin working on DUNE’s Photon Simulation in both Single and Dual Phase technologies. I would like you to consider my candidacy as a Spokesperson Liaison to represent Young DUNE and communicate our needs and opinions with the spokespeople. I want the young researchers in DUNE to feel welcomed and supported by the community. I think it is of utter importance to feel valued, integrated and to enjoy the interactions with other coworkers in order to produce good work. I was born in Spain, did my undergraduate studies in Germany and am now doing my PhD in USA, where I particularly appreciate the flat hierarchies and the diversity. I very much enjoy experiencing and learning from different cultures and would like DUNE to be able to draw on the strength of all its diversity of thoughts and faces that it accomodates as a huge collaboration. I am currently living in Fermilab and will spend most of the upcoming academic year here.

Best,

Beatriz Tapia Oregui
