SSR2 RF design joint meeting

US/Central
Paolo Berrutti (Fermilab)
Description
Dear FNAL/BARC colleagues, You are invited to participate to the SSR2 RF design joint meeting When Friday February 22, 2019 at 6.30am Central Standard Time (CST) Agenda - Mechanical design status at BARC [Bhumesh] 30 min or Join Zoom Meeting
Minutes

- Piyush to become the point of contact on the technical side proposal from Donato
- FRS/TRS to define all cavity parameters and requirements/guidelines to perform all analysis for PDR
- FNAL needs to follow up and let BARC know about FRS/TRS (decision/action FNAL)
- Srinivas asking to have SSR2 V3.1 jacketed from FNAL to perform LFD is the SSR2 v3.2 (decision/action FNAL)
- BARC could jacket 3.2 starting from FNAL 3.1
- email latest v3.1 design presentation (decision/action FNAL)
- Srinivas will share presentations EM design, by Abhishek, and mechanical design by Bhumesh, of SSR2 v2.6 (decision/action BARC)
- Completed SSR2 v2.6 mech. to be loaded in TC by BARC team, FNAL will be notified with the document number (decision/action BARC)
- meeting bi-weekly with BARC team, preferably Thursdays, 6.30 AM CST

From PDR guide lines BARC team will do:
• HOMs: higher order modes spectrum and R/Q vs. beta simulations and
calculations [Abhishek]
• Transverse kick analysis vs. beta: quadrupole component evaluation
for the whole beta range in SSR2 section of PIP-II [Abhishek]
• LFD optimization: mechanical and RF simulations will lead to the final
design devoted to comply with project FRS/TRS [Bhumesh]
• df/dp: multi-physics simulations will lead to the final design to comply
with project FRS/TRS  [Bhumesh]
• Inelastic tuning: bare and jacketed cavity plastic deformations will be
required throughout the fabrication and processing to ensure
frequency goals are met [Bhumesh]
• Operation tuning: check coarse and fine tuning range for cavity
operation at 2K [Piyush]
• Structural analysis during Leak check: no residual plastic deformation
after applying a differential of 1 bar to both bare cavity and jacketed
cavity [Piyush]
• Structural analysis in VTS test conditions: the bare cavity needs to
withstand a differential pressure of 2.05 bar at 293K and 4.1 bar at 2K,
fixture may be needed [Piyush]
• Preliminary evaluation of manufacturing process during cavity design [Piyush]
• Cavity processing procedures and tooling shall be at least at
preliminary design stage [Piyush should learn and be involved in SRF cavity processing activities, tour of CR, LAB2 etc...]
