With the discovery of the Higgs boson at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, physicists acquired an important tool to probe the fundamental building blocks of the universe. Precision measurements of Higgs observables, especially the transverse momentum differential cross section, allow for unique insights into the structure of the interactions of the Higgs boson with other particles and may shed light on physics beyond the standard model. Recent developments in deep learning have enhanced our ability to study the production of Higgs bosons with very large momenta. By studying these high-momentum Higgs bosons, we may be able to discover new physics at very high energy scales inaccessible directly at the LHC. I will explain these searches and talk about the direction that deep learning is taking in particle physics, especially how it's changing the real-time trigger system, event reconstruction, and our computing paradigm.
