Alberto introduces EF04 conveners

- A. Belloni goes through slides from EF04
(https://indico.fnal.gov/event/24218/contribution/0/material/slides/)

Items to discuss at the beginning of the group activities:

a) The Big Questions (slide 3): what is the group hoping to achieve; what information and recommendations would it aim to pass to the overall community and funding
agencies?

b) List of analysis topics (slides 4-5)
Emphasis could be put on individual items depending on interest of group participants

c) Collaboration with other groups (slide 6):
- Very tight collaboration with EF01 (Higgs)
- Also input from EF03, EF05, EF08
Note: single W/Z + jets is primarily housed in EF05 (precision QCD)
- BSM is in purview of EF08/EF09, but interaction is useful because electroweak precision may offer unique tests for certain BSM models

d) Meeting times (slide 8):
Doodle poll to search for alternatives for morning meeting times (to be better suitable for U.S. west coast participants): https://doodle.com/poll/ya6nfgebsdy7zimm

e) Call for input (slide 9):
- No need to repeat what is already known -> LoIs for literature review are also welcome
- Do we have requests for the planned Energy Frontier MC task force?
- Are there additional crucial resources that describe the current status (besides those on the slide)?

- S. Dawson goes through slides from EF01
(https://indico.fnal.gov/event/24218/contribution/1/material/slides/)

How do we see us (EF01) working with other groups on EFT studies?

ESG did kappa framework studies -> no plan to redo these, but instead only do EFT studies

Open discussion:

- Graham Wilson: interested in W mass and weak mixing angle in e+e- collider, and single W production, would these topics be in EF04?

Ayres: yes, shall put in EF04

- Jenny List: interplay with BSM model groups? interesting to use SM as input to EFT; how does BSM signal manifest itself in EFT models?

Sally Dawson: EF01 and EF02 discussed about BSM interpretation; this should be covered in coordination between EF01 and EF02

Ayres: need to be in touch in next few weeks to make sure we cover everything

Jenny List: would be good to set EFT technically such that input toy measurements are different from SM and to see whether we can get the right BSM interpretation from
the fit results

- Juergen Reuter: is trilinear Higgs self coupling in EF01 and EF04? (HL-)LHC can also provide some sensitivity on this measurement

Sally Dawson: experimental studies are in EF01, output precision on Higgs self-coupling is in EF04 fits

Juergen Reuter: vector boson scattering is also relevant for Higgs (EF01)

Sally Dawson: cannot be separated between groups, has to be one effort (joint meetings)

- Christophe Grojean: how do you envision getting projections of input measurement sensitivity from various collider collaborations? imagine interaction with
collaborations

Ayres: expect members of collaborations to participate in this group; aim to have contact people from collaborations in our Snowmass group(s)

Christophe Grojean: need to consider differential observables, not just inclusive ones as was done in the ESG

Sally Dawson: EF conveners are also talking to collaborations about this

- Juergen Reuter: there are also low-energy precision experiments that are relevant

  A. Freitas: yes, need to communicate with Precision Frontier; not yet started (still assembling groups)

- Ayres: really important is to figure out where we imagine to be at the end of Snowmass, what is the output on the big physics questions, e.g., compare different
colliders and see how they do, but there are also other goals we could need to reach

- Jenny List: mentioned MC production to be very important, any details?

  A. Tricoli: MC task force is being assembled, with key people from each TG and others from theoretical part, and technical experts on MC production (with expertise from
previous Snowmass); having discussions with collaborations about setting up common MC generation and analysis frameworks -- this will be organized at the level of Energy
Frontier; mandate of MC task force: identify available MC, and which samples need to be produced, which are already available; expect this effort to complete in ~July, then will have production team produce MC (OSG in US will provide CPU and storage)

  J. List: contact us for what we can supply to MC task force

  A. Tricoli: absolutely

  A. Tricoli: If specific model samples can be produced on a laptop, we do not need common production

- J. Tian: Besides "big questions" please comment on concrete topics and any aspect of the Snowmass process for this group

- G. Wilson: Do we need to read both email and look at the Slack channel?

  A. Belloni: yes, see Snowmass page for instructions; Slack is a good tool for ongoing discussions (can get messy with email)

  A. Freitas: group may decide which communication channels it primarily wants to use

- A. Freitas: May 21 full-day Energy Frontier workshop; each topical group will present plans and contributions from community; we plan to have one more meeting before
that workshop, depending on doodle poll either Monday or at another time; goal for the meeting: introduced each other today, now want to collect ideas from you on the to-
do list for our group; too early for LOI, but can have brainstorming

- A. Belloni: please fill in the doodle about meeting times!!
