Description
On September 15, 2015 the 4Km-by-4Km long laser interferometers of the Advanced LIGO project detected a never-before-heard “symphony” coming from the distant Universe: the space-time ripples produced by two merging black holes more than a billion light years away from Earth. We will talk about the historical importance of this discovery and the profound consequences it will have on science as well as on society.
