Description

Bi-weekly meeting of Snowmass energy frontier topical group EF03 (top and heavy flavor production). We have time for updates from people working on Snowmass studies. We will also have plenty of time for discussion.

The meeting will be on zoom at https://msu.zoom.us/j/99445309904 The meeting password on zoom is 202021.

LHeC:
- detectors: can use ATLAS/CMS/LHCb/Alice? how much reuse? - no, have to build new detector, at location of ALICE. Cost of additional accelerator roughly same as cost of a detector, so cheap to build.
- Vtb vs Vts vs Vtd: how to tell which initial state particle it is? It depends on final state kinematics, no strange tagging tried yet, this is a potential future project.
- Similarly for tt produced via gamma vs produced via Z (p23) - don’t tell difference, just assume one or the other.
- Would be nice to do the fit on p12 including final state information, both scattered neutrino, and top final state W boson.
- Could reach out to Ruan and Kumar, since they are likely working on updated studies right now. Also true for Cakir et al.
- would be very nice to have summary plot of EFT fits that compares sensitivity of different colliders, similarly to FCNC summary plot.
- theory: how are theory uncertainties estimated in the projected sensitivities to anomalous couplings and FCNC; do we need better predictions, i.e higher-order calculations, to be able to take full advantage of LHeC's physics potential?
