      Meeting Topic:  (1/26/2012)
g-2 meeting to discuss work and testing mechanical support group needs for the Lens

Attendance:  Still, Hurh, Schultz, Tariq, Leveling, Annala, Polly

      Disscussion:

Dean and Tony unfolded a test plan for the Lens outlining that there were a set of potential hardware tests that need to be accomplished to gain confidence in the pulsing capabilties of the lens for g-2 scenarios.  The tests included:
      1) Conditioning the current internally cooled lens to normal 120Gev conditioning practice.
      2) Attempt a 12Hz average pusle test.   - Looking at heating and number of pulses achievable.
      3) Attempt the g-2 pulse scenarios up to 100Hz (needs power supply modification costing~ $60 to $80)

There was much discussion about stress in the lens and modleing those stress for the g-2 scenario with increased pusle rate to the lens compared to the 120gv stacking scenarios.  It was decided that ANSYS modleing will be needed and Ryan would start this work with help from Salman and Pat.  This work may take ~ 2 months and should provide a comparison or basis fro heating in the lens with the increased rep rate.  There was full agreement that the need for the 12Hz testing is neccessary.  This will provide a good basis for the test lens at low gradient and heating.   The more pulses that could be achieved at higher pulse rate and lower the better.  If  >10M pulses could be achieved a higher confindence for running indefinate could be estimated.  As far as spending the money in FY12 for the modificaiton of the power supply to achieve the g-2 pulse rate test,  it was felt it was not nesseccary now but maybe later.   The 12Hz test and the ANSYS analysis would/should be enough information for writing the CD1 report and review.
