VISA

Citizens of some countries (including the US) need a Brazilian entry visa. We can provide an invitation letter for a registered participant upon request. Please check with a Brazilian Consulate if you need a visa.

HEALTH CONCERNS

Check with your health insurance about coverage in Rio. NuInt 2012 does not offer any medical or dental service. You may consider buying an insurance vefore arriving in Rio de Janeiro.

REACHING RIO DE JANEIRO

Rio de Janeiro Tom Jobim airport connects Rio to several domestic and international destinations. It is located about 23 km from CBPF.

TRANSFER FROM THE AIRPORT

There are four main options for transfer from the airport to your hotel. We recommend you to arrange your transffer prior to your trip.

SHUTTLE RIO: a shuttle service that takes you from the airport to your hotel by about R$ 15.00. Rides shall be booked in advance either by your travel agency or by the shuttle service site http://shuttlerio.com.br/ available in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Cab: several companies offer cabs from the airport to any location in Rio. Service can be purchased at the airport after leaving the restricted area. A ride to CBPF shall cost around R$ 80.00

Special bus: a special bus line connects the airport to several hotels. Fare goes around R$ 5.00 and is paid directly to the driver.

Car rental: many rental car companies are located at the airport and reservations can be made through their website ot through a travel agent.


GOING AROUND IN RIO

Rio has a vast, diversified and unexpensive transportarion system operating with busses, subway, taxis and trains. A cab ride from most hotels close to CBPF and the workshop venue shall cost around R$ 15.00 and the ride can easily be shared by 4 passenger without any extra charge. A bus fare will be around R$ 3.50. Botafogo subway station is about 15 minutes walk from CBPF. A subway bus also connects the station to Urca leaving passengers about 100 m from CBPF. Subway fare is about R$ 3.20 without the bus or R$ 4,15 with the bus..

ELECTRICT POWER

Electriv power in Rio is most 110V / 60 Hz AC. Some hotels may provide other standards. You may need and adaptor to connect your devices to the Brazilain outlets. Check this with your hotel prior to your arrival.
