      Timing

      • Preparations for NP04 running going OK.
        • List of timing endpoint addresses for readout/calibration units on NP04 complete except for SSP LED flashers.
        • Return path of devices except for SSPs tested and mostly OK
          • All WIBs need a firmware update to allow full access to timing endpoint registers via timing fibre from timing master
          • No (upstream) communication with some WIBs (middle in crate) - issue under investigation
        • Fanout 1 (NP04 master) locked to 10 MHz from accelerator
        • CRT timing unit commissioned
      • RFQ for DUNE-variant AFCs should go out this week
      • After delay due to last minute design change FIB design should be ready for quotes/manufacture this week.
      • In process of updating post-PRR schedule (concentrating on items that are also in US P6 schedule)
      • Initial integration of timing with OKS / 5.x complete. Tested in hardware to some extent. Code and schema being reviewed
      • Work in progress on allowing setup/control of periodic timing system messages via nanotimingrc

      Trigger

      • TPG & Trigger commissioning ongoing at NP04
      • TP rates we see: ~0.7MHz/plane, = 2MHz per APA
        • Unfortunately the readout applications currently cannot keep up with these TP rates.
        • Done CPU pinning optimization & added non-zero queue timeouts that allow us to run TPG on one plane at desired thresholds.
        • Proposed changes from Giovanna for the TP->Buffer->TPSet module to work on per-plane basis, resolving the issue.
        • This will have positive implications on the trigger: TA algorithms will work per-plane, allowing for TC-algorithms that merge TAs across planes, and improve computing performance.
      • This means TA algorithms need to process each TP in less than ~1us.
        • Currently only ADCSimpleWindow & some "number of channels hit" algorithms are that fast.
        • Bigger problem: potential memory leak in the trigger, crashes trigger after ~30 minutes.
      • The ongoing work: online latency measurements, finding the memory leak in the trigger, CPU pinning for the trigger application.
      • Signiicant progress on offline trigger model--still a few things before pushing this to offline groups, but basically all critical pieces for TPC-based triggering are in place.

      Activity coordination round table 1m

      Release coordination
      Iceberg
      ND test setups
      EHN1 integration
      SW coordination

Speakers: Bonnie King (FNAL), John Freeman, Kurt Biery (Fermilab), Patrick Dunne (Imperial College London), Wesley Ketchum (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory)

      John, Software Coordination:

      • To use the latest-greatest daq-buildtools for v5 development, run "setup_dbt latest_v5" rather than "setup_dbt latest". The latter will give you the latest-greatest for v4 development. For symmetry purposes, "setup_dbt latest_v4" will do the same.
      • I'm going to be changing the names of some v5 repos today as requested by Alessandro, see my comment on the #daq-oks-integration channel for details
      • I'm going to bump daq-cmake this week, which fixes a problem people sometimes run into when they want to simultaneously develop package A and package C, but package A depends on a Spack-installed package B and package B depends on package C.
