09:00 → 09:20 Update on planning for fddaq-v5.2.0

A proposed plan for topics to be included in fddaq-v5.2.0 was discussed at the Coordination Team meeting this week and will be discussed more next week. In general, additional changes in the v4 line of development are expected to be small in number, so hopefully more people will be able to focus on the v5 line. However, there will still be operations work and work to prepare for upcoming Production Readiness Reviews.

Giovanna presented a proposed list of tasks for 5.2. Some of those were additions/new features and others were updates to existing functionality ("completeness" vs. "consolidation"). The proposal is to have a somewhat longer dev cycle than in recent ones, and a release target date of the end of October has been proposed.

Some possible topics for discussion here:

• "Action Plans" (mapping commands from Run Control to finer-grained actions within DAQModules in a DAQ application)
  • if this were to be included, when might it be possible to have it tested and merged?
• OpMon transition (e.g. get_info() --> generate_opmon_data())
  • this will affect multiple repos, so it would be good to have it done early, if it gets the go-ahead
• Support for additional detector readout types, e.g. TDE and DAPHNE v3
  • what are the needs for these?
• Porting of v4 changes to the v5 development line
  • a work-in-progress list will be available soon

Notes from Kurt about TPStream writing stress tests...

• the expected rate of TPs in the first Far Detector is not terribly clear, both in number of TPs and size of the TP data structure.
  • The TDR says TPs will have 20-22 bytes, but we have 56 bytes currently.
  • TPs from collection and induction wires?
  • I would appreciate a clear and thorough description of what I should target in testing.
