The above photo was taken under exceptional weather conditions. The monument sits on top of a 710 meters mountain and is subjected to diverse climate conditions. Cloudy skies can seriously restrict the view. Wind and rain may be present. Bad or unfavourable weather conditions do not stop the trains from running and are not reason for cancellation of the tour.

Anyone can buy tickets for Corcovado from the internet (www.corcovado.com.br) or from booths located in some areas of the city and at the train station itself. Demand may be high and availability may be limited. Corcovado train station is easily reached by taxi or subway plus subway bus with connection at Largo do Machado Station. The monument can also be reached by car through a road that goes through the Tijuca forest all the way up to the top of the mountain. Tickets must be bought to access the monument and there may be restrictions on the number of cars allowed to access the monument.

Virtually all tour opperators in Rio (as well as the concierge of many hotels) can arrange tours to Corcovado.
