Minutes and Action List of August 5 2019 ArgonCube2x2 Instalaltion Meeting

  • Attendance: John, Jim, Gary, Min Jeong,  Sai, Steve and Ting
  • On the detector configuration
    • There are two needs to have extra space in between the downstream Minerva bookend and overhead bridge:
      • Potential installation of a gas TPC prototype
      • placement of a tall (12') rolling platform ladder to access top PMTs
    • The UK prototype of gas TPC is about 2 meter tall with a gas tank cylinder vessel of OD 1.5m.
    • McMaster Carr has a ladder (#8229T68)  with foot printer of 16' tall (platform height of 12'6"), 54" width and 125" depth.
    • For now, we decided to move detector upstream to leave 2m space between bookend and overhead bridge.
      • Ting to get step file of the gas TPC vessel prototype from Jen so  Gary to include it in his 3d model
        • potential worry is the height limit to transfer the gas TPC vessel over Minerva module
        • also worry about crane coverage at downstream end
  • The addition of 5' section of rail for downstream Minerva module does not seem cause any problem for cryogenics piping routing and access
    • we will keep it as the 10' total length for the rail unless we have other issues
  • We also decided to extend the rail of upstream Minerva modules to 10'
  • For accessing top PMTs on the downstream end, there are three possible solutions:
    • (1)the tall platform ladder, (2) re-use of Minerva's movable platform, (3) and a short platform or stool on new 2x2 vessel platform
    • Steve and Ting will arrange a meeting with Howard to go over the Minerva electronics installation experience and recommended a solution
  • Sai collected sizing info of the Minos support beams and columns:
    • beams have  I-Beam of W18x35 with A36 4" square steel bars
    • columns have W8x35
  • For argonCube top access platform, we will use beam structures over the west and east catwalks to support the load of 4 persons+100lbs equipment
    • the platform will be supported by the MINOS module support rails. We prefer not to use additional columns
    • We will not put any crypgenic equipment  or readout electronics on the platform. We will not need to worry about vibration impact on the experiment
    • We can keep the platform light weight to allow some vibration when people steps on it. Need to check out the safety rules on this
  • We postponed the decommissioning procedure discussion to next meeting
  • Action task list:
    • Gary to move the detector upstream to leave more room at downstream end and also extend the upstream Minerva module support rail length to 10'
    • Ting to get step file of the gas TPC prototype
    • Min Jeong to get more detailed cryogenic equipment layout and check out any conflicts or space clearance with support structure
    • Steve and Ting to have meeting with Howard to finalize space and tooling requirement for Minerva module installation/service
    • Sai to start to specify the beam sizing for the cryostat top access platform
    • Next meeting is August 19, 2019
