Tour # 1, Day 1, September 18, 3:15 P.M.
Leveraging Fermilab for Medical Device Sterilization Innovation
Location: IARC, Heavy Assembly Building
This tour will focus on activities and facilities at Fermilab that are most applicable to medical device sterilization. It will highlight our efforts in developing a compact, superconducting, 10 MeV electron beam source with out power between 250 and 1000 kW, suitable for both e-beam and x-ray generation.
Also highlighted will be our Accelerator Application Development and Demonstration (A2D2) area. This electron beam source is available for industry to partner with us to investigate new applications for electron beams.
Day 1 of the workshop will resume at 4:15 P.M.
Tour #2, Day 2, September 19, 3:30 P.M.
Optional Tour: Behind The Scenes at Fermilab
Limited Capacity - Pre-Registration Required
This tour will focus on broader activities at Fermilab. This will display Fermilab's development capabilities of superconducting RF cavities; the Fermilab Accelerator Science and Technology (FAST) facility which supports research and development of accelerator technology for the next generation of particle accelerators; and offer views of the Fermilab site from the 15th floor of the Wilson Hall high-rise building.
This is the concluding event of the workshop.
