Sept 3 2020 ProtoDUNE-ND Electronics and Readout Integration Meeting
- News and status of action tasks:
- Design of light readout VGA crate has changed. Now it looks like they will fit onto top of TPC flange nicely. Sasha think this is the case.
- Linda asked whether we need similar protection for the VFA crate like we do for readout racks on catwalk at MINOS. We need more info on the crate to decide.
- Sasha to send specification of this VGA crate to DUNE docDB or email. We need to know the power requirement
- There were some concerns whether we we have space for HV filter on top of TPC flange. Maybe we can think of moving it off the flange.
- Rack protection and AC distribution in MINOS
- Linda's talk is posted on indico page. Please see design detailed there.
- We will use as much as possible equipment saved from MINOS decommissioning. The rack protection will be based on BIRA 8880. PDU and switches also recycled from MINOS
- Rack building need input from subsystems.
- We are starting the rack-building process, The documentations in DUNE docDB posted by subsystems will be the starting point
- Rack-building tool example shown on page 6 of Linda's talk
- Subsystem experts from light readout, charge readout, cryogenics instrumentation, HVS and MINERvA need to complete their documentation and put in DUNE docDB
- The AC transformer for argonCube2x2 is about 15-20 kVA. We will go larger size than that -- probably 50kVA or more.
- Linda to look possibility to use uBOONE spare 75kVA XFMR
- Charge readout
- Armin Karcher from LBNL gave an introduction of the charge readout DAQ. Detail is in his slide posted on indico page
- All data signals from the LArPixel tiles are digital.
- I/O to the tiles include data, clock/timing, power, Ethernet. They are expected to go through a feedthrough on top of TPC flange
- DC power line is grounding float at suppler and terminated at the cryostat.
- There is some concerns of noise pickup using the non-shielded DC power cables
- We need full schematics to understand details of power distribution and equipment layout.
- There are two options on clock distribution LBNL is looking into -- Ethernet PTP and White Rabbit receiver
- Comment made about NUMI beam timing signal in MINOS hall
- MINERvA is receiving beam timing from ACNET crate
- We are starting to look options for argonCube2x2 include MINErvA modules: ACNET and SBN White Rabbi signals are two options being discussed
- DC power suppler options are still being looked:OMRON S8VK-X and Weiner PL506
- Suggest to have Ethernet monitoring/control option for the OMRON
- MINOS surplus wiener is another option for 2x2 test in MINOS
- Need to collect design documentation in DUNE docDB
- under ArgonCube2x2 documentation group
- Need this for integration design and also for review at Fermilab
