Mateus Carneiro

Hello fellow youngsters,

I'm Mateus F. Carneiro, BNL postdoc. I'm currently the co-convener of the Neutrino Interaction and SM group and part of the DUNE Outreach comittee. First, thank you so much for the nomination for the Spokesperson Advisory Committee. I really appreciate this position exist within the DUNE collaboration. Having representation from our young community in the higher levels of the organization is not just good but necessary for a healthy recognition of the work we do, as well as of our needs. I have occupied similar roles in the past, including a 2 year term on Fermilab's Students and Postdocs Association (FSPA). If elected I hope to add my own experience to the solid advocacy established by the past representatives that occupied this position. I look forward to stand for our needs and points of view in the spokes comittee, as well as working hard to make good use of this communication channel.

Thanks again for the consideration.

Steven Gardiner

Hi Young DUNE! My name is Steven Gardiner, and I’m a postdoc at Fermilab. I work primarily on low-energy physics topics for DUNE. I wrote and maintain the MARLEY event generator used for supernova neutrino studies, and I am broadly interested in continued development of DUNE physics simulations. Outside of DUNE, I also serve as co-convener of the MicroBooNE cross-section working group and am an active developer of the GENIE neutrino event generator.

Ensuring that DUNE management hears the voices of junior scientists in the collaboration is a critical need, and I will be honored to help make that happen if I am elected. I recently served in a similar role as a MicroBooNE Young representative to Faculty and Senior Research Scientists meetings. I hope to use what I’ve learned from that experience to be an effective advocate for you on the DUNE Spokesperson Advisory Committee.

Pip Hamilton

Hi Young DUNE! My name’s Pip Hamilton; I’m currently a postdoc at Imperial College London (though I spent four years previously at Fermilab for Syracuse University). I’ve not served as a Young DUNE rep before, but the Spokespersons’ Advisory Committee is a role I believe I can perform well, having experience of liaising with collaboration management from serving as MicroBooNE run coordinator.
I strongly believe that advocating for early-career researchers is important not only for ourselves, but also for the future of the experiment and the field. For an experiment as long in the making as DUNE, it’s only just that those doing the hard work of laying the foundations should be appreciated and motivated to continue on, so that they can be there to see the fruits of the work (and receive credit!) when DUNE receives its first data. I hope that if chosen for this role I can be an effective advocate for our interests across the collaboration.

Tanaz Mohayai

Hi Young DUNE! My name is Tanaz Mohayai. I'm a postdoc at Fermilab working on DUNE's high-pressure gas argon TPC and MicroBooNE. One of the things I like about DUNE is the opportunity to collaborate and interact with colleagues from all over the world. As early careers, this provides us with a great platform so I believe it's important for our voices to always be heard. To that belief, I've done my best to advocate for our strong Young DUNE community. If elected as your Spokesperson Advisory Committee, it would be an honor to continue to do that. I've also served as an early career liaison to Snowmass neutrino physics conveners, and in my student days, served on a number of committees sharing the interests of our early-career community with the department management. I look forward to using these experiences to represent you and ensure that collaboration management hears our voices and takes our interests into consideration.

Marina Reggiani-Guzzo

Hi everyone, I am Marina Reggiani-Guzzo, a second-year Ph.D. student at the University of Manchester in the UK. I have been working on LArTPC programs, namely DUNE and SBN, since 2016. I had the opportunity to work at Fermilab for a few months as an NPC fellow, where I met many of you. I keep a deep admiration for the welcoming work environment that the lab offers and the friendly colleagues I met there, hence I would like to contribute to enhancing everyone's experience.

This past year has shown the importance of well-being in professional life. I will feel personally and professionally fulfilled if I can help the community to maintain a healthy and welcoming environment for the members of Young DUNE. Students and postdocs represent a large portion of the DUNE collaboration, and I will be happy to represent you, making sure your voices are heard.
