Generator Studies Workshop
PittPACC at the University of Pittsburgh will sponsor an upcoming workshop on neutrino event generator comparisons. The workshop will take place Monday-Thursday, July 8-11, 2024, inclusive.
This workshop will be similar in style to the 2 previous Tensions workshops at University of Pittsburgh which were very successful with journal articles as output. It will also be like the Les Houches workshops which have a long and impressive history. All these workshops were unusual in that the work aspect was emphasized. Attendance is mainly by invitation, but please ask the organizers if you want to be included.
The primary focus of this workshop is to perform detailed comparisons between various neutrino event generators and identify steps for the improvement of all tools. The workshop will be organized into a set of working groups discussing various topics, with a few short talks and summaries from each group each day.
During the workshop, we plan to focus on the following key topics:
- Quasielastic Scattering
- Final-State Interactions / Intranuclear Cascades
- Tuning vs Systematic Uncertainties
- Deep and Shallow Inelastic Scattering; pion production
- Electron scattering
LOCAL INFORMATION:
- Go to http://www.pittpacc.pitt.edu/. There are a few links there.
- Airport is 30 miles from University. There is a bus (28X) that goes from airport to Oakland every 30 min or so. Charge is $2.75, exact change only. Taxi/Uber is about $50.
- Most people will stay in Wyndham Gardens Oakland Hotel (https://www.wyndhampittsburghuniversitycenter.com/). We have a block of rooms reserved at $158 (room) + $29 (parking) per night. Ask for PittPACC rate which was negotiated by Joni George. I hear you can get better rates at Wyndham Gardens through hotels.com. I even see better rates at the hotel web site.
- AirBNB bookings are available. Look for either Oakland (walking) or Shadyside (long walk or convenient bus) neighborhoods.
- Parking at the University is expensive and hard to find. You are unlikely to need a car to go anywhere that we require. Restaurants in Oakland are usual quality for close to a large university. You can go 1-3 miles away and find much better.
- All sessions will be in Allen Hall at Univ. of Pittsburgh. Main room is Allen Hall 321.
