AD Weekly Friday - 2018 Scheduling Meeting/Weekly Summary (13 Apr 2018)

Linac
Pretty good week.
Had an SRM PS failure, unit was replaced.
Tuesday the next Marx modulator was set in place. It will be a few weeks before it is ready to run.
Had several RFQ trips which required local resets. Need ~1hour to inspect relays.

Booster
Good week. Efficiency 93-94%.
Beam to BNB, Muon, and NuMi was between 4E12 and 5E12.
Booster protons per hour increased through the week and efficiencies were maintained.
MTEST is getting 5E11 when it is requested.
Tune studies were performed.
~10 min downtime total.
3.5E19 protons total for the week.

Main Injector & Recycler
Running well.
Recalibrated MI8 toroid, efficiency numbers are now more accurate.
Had a problem with Recycler 2.5MHz RF which was traced to overheating equipment. Additional cooling has been put in place.
KPS4A had a termination problem on Saturday. Subsequent inspection found no problems inside the cabinet.
Request 4 hour opportunistic access to MI to hipot MI60 buss.
Plan more 1.2sec studies and MI TBT studies.

NuMI
Running well.
BPM problems have been fixed, thanks to instrumentation personnel.
Muon monitors have problems however, and this is an orphan system. Rounding up people to assist with this.

NuMI Experiments
Running well.
Minerva changed some PS boards.
NOvA is doing well.
Last week passed 7E20 POT!

Booster Neutrino
Running well.

BNB Experiments
Running well.

Muon Rings
Replaced failed Li lens this week. First lens change since 2010. New lens is operating OK but needed a temperature trip setting recalibration.
Running pretty well since the change but tuning is still underway.
Ion pump babysitter program is working well to maintain vacuum levels as some pumps trip occasionally.
The slides contain links to the lens change procedure documentation and photos.
Request 30 min oppportunistic downtime to address a nuisance trip problem in the Q404 power supply.
Minor access requests issues.

Muon Experiments
Thanks to all who worked on the lens replacement.
Performed magnet field measurements.
Doing kicker tuning today.
Plan to do a trolley run during the day tomorrow and another one on Wednesday morning.
Plan to do a 1 day shutdown for several tasks including a chipmunk change on April 24th or 25th.

SY120, Neutrino Muon, Meson Test, Meson Center
Running well.
Taking opportunistic study time for BPM measurements.
LCW leak rate has increased somewhat.

SY120 Experiments
Experiments had some computer problems but they are running again.

FAST/IOTA
IOTA RF cavity beam tube was installed this week. This is the first vacuum hardware installation for the ring.
Nonlinear insert stretched wire measurements have been delayed.
Ion pump stand installation has begun.
All quad PSs should be connected to their magnets today.
Final IOTA cable pull should be complete on Monday.

Alignment
Supported Mu2E, PIP2, and LCLS2.
Performing measurements on cryomodule from SLAC.

Controls
Nothing to add.

Cryo
CMTF is at room temp due to failed heat exchanger.
NML is at room temp, expect cooldown mid-May.
MDB refrigerators are running well.
HAB is running well.

ESH&Q
Nothing to report.

EE Support
Nothing was found amiss during the MI abort kicker inspection.

Instrumentation
Working on improvements to SY BPMs.
TOR853 timing has been observed to shift slightly, putting the pedestal measurement on top of the beam time and causing large measurement errors. Investigation is underway.

Mechanical & Fluids
F4 air compressor auto-drain was stuck and has been isolated. Would like 2 hrs downtime to replace several of these units.

RF
Running well.
Monitoring RR 2.5MHz system for stability.

FESS
Continuing transitioning from Winter to Spring modes.
There is a sinkhole near the MI62 sump discharge line. Will need to plan to excavate this at some point.
MC1 sample line dig has been put on hold because it must be done in a beam-off condition. (need 2 days with no 8GeV line beam)
CUB chiller #4 motor needs to have a bearing replaced.
