Lodging
Students will be housed at the nearby Embassy Suites and daily shuttle buses will be provided. Students will be sent directions with how to book with the hotel directly in the HCPSS group upon acceptance to the school. Costs for lodging can be found on the Registration page.
Please Note: FULL payment will be collected for your stay when you check in. Please make plans with your bank and let international banks know you are traveling in advance and will be making a large charge and on which date. If your bank/card is not approved please be prepared to pay cash for that nights stay ot the hotel will not be able to check you in. The program is not responsbile for your rooming charges. All international travels shoudl take extra preparations with their banks and credit cards.
Transportation
Students should obtain their own transportation to and from the airport. Transportation to and from Chicago O'Hare Airport or Midway Airport is available by pre-arranged "limousine," taxi, ride-sharing app, or car rental. Fermilab users often use West Suburban Limousine (www.westsublimo.com, 1-800-345-LIMO).
Transportation to and from Embassy Suites, and around the Fermilab site will be provided for the students, Monday - Friday and Sunday at 8:15. There will also be a hotel shuttle provided on Saturday and Sunday to transport students to (a) the local train station for travel into Chicago or (b) for visiting parks and restaurants in downtown Naperville. (Please note that if the bus is missed in the morning or afternoon the student is responsible for their own transportation.)
Meals
Breakfast: Embassy Suites offers a free made-to-order breakfast every day which is included in your room rate.
Lunch: Students will be on their own for lunch. During session days, the Fermilab Cafeteria will be open and accepts cash (USD), Visa and MasterCard credit cards. Saturday 8/25 lunch will be provided at the hotel for anyone that is there at noon. Sunday 8/26 Lunch will be provided to you at Fermilab as the cafeteria is closed.
Reception/Dinner:
Fermi Research Alliance, LLC. will host a Reception at Embassy Suites on 8/20 Monday 17:30 in the Freedom Room.
FRA will host a Pizza Night Thursday 8/23 17:30 in the Embassy Suites Riverwalk Room.
FRA will host a Dinner Banquet Thursday Aug 30 17:30 at Two Brothers in Aurora.
Please Note: Embassy Suites offers an evening managers reception with complimentary drinks, alcoholic/nonalcoholic and heavy hor dourves every evening at 17:30 in the main lobby area. Past students have enjoyed this time to gather and socialize together.
Outside of the outlined meals, students will be responsible for their own meals.
Restaurants within walking distance from the hotel include: Bricks Wood Fire Pizza, Jason's Deli, Naf Naf Grill and Subway just to name a few.
