NuSTEC Workshop on Neutrino-Nucleus Pion Production in the Resonance Region

US/Eastern
University of Pittsburgh

University of Pittsburgh

Jonathan Paley (Fermilab), Jorge Morfin (Fermilab), Steven Dytman (Univ. of Pittsburgh)
Description

The goal of the workshop is to bring experimentalists and theorists together to discuss the state and systematic uncertainties of the models in this critical region for the current and future long-baseline neutrino oscillation program. Although we aim to have detailed discussions amongst the experts, we strongly encourage early-career physicists working on this topic to attend. Below is a list of topics we expect to cover at the workshop:

  • What is the state of the current models for resonant as well as non-resonant single and multi-pion production and what new models are on the horizon?
  • How important are these interactions for the current and future neutrino oscillation experiments, and what level of uncertainty in the models are required?
  • Measurements from neutrino, electron and pion scattering experiments. What have we learned from electron and pion scattering measurements?
  • Would more measurements be useful? What are the right form factors for Delta production?
  • How are final state interactions modeled and how are the uncertainties assessed?
  • What can we learn from Duality applied to neutrino-nucleus scattering in the resonance region?

This Workshop is sponsored by PittPACC at the University of Pittsburgh.  Please note however that there is a $50 registration fee to help offset costs for coffee breaks and breakfasts.
